We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you eat a great breakfast it sets you up for a day of balanced blood sugar and energy levels. Breakfast is one of my favourite meals as it gives me the opportunity to pack in so many super foods into one bowl. I love my big bowl of fruit in the morning and the perfect complementary is a seed mix. I suggest you forget about yogurt, cereal from a box, gluten and sugar laded muesli and try a seed mix. Give my recipe a try or customize you own recipe to suit your own likes.

My seed mix is made from all premium quality organic ingredients, boasts high levels of Omega 3s, is gluten free, super high in fiber, complex carbohydrates and protein. This mix provides your body with a long list of vitamins and minerals very lacking in the standard western diet. It is also great for detoxification and weight loss.

Megan’s Breakkie Mega Mix

(makes very large quantity so half the amounts if desired)
1kg activated buckwheat
500g chia seeds
375g brown rice straws
100g poppy seeds
200g raw cacao nibs
200g sesame seeds
250g raisins
250g pipits (pumpkin seeds)
250g sunflower seeds
150g quinoa puffs
200g amaranth puffs
500g ground flax seed (linseed)

Combine all ingredients in a very large bowl with a wooden spoon.
Store in airtight containers in the fridge.

Serve 1/4-1/2 cup of seed mix on top of a bowl of fresh fruit for a delicious start to the day.
