Avocado Chocolate Mousse

Who doesn’t like chocolate mousse… right?

I love it… but I don’t really like cream and would be left feeling quite sick if I was to eat regular chocolate mousse. I have seen this avocado recipe around a few times and thought it was about time I gave it a go.

The verdict… Yum Oh!

Avocado Chocolate Mousse

(serves three)

2 ripe avocados
3 tablespoons raw honey
1/2 cup organic cocoa powder
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract

Scoop the flesh of the avocados into a jug and blitz with a hand blender until smooth.
Add in the remaining ingredients and blitz for a further minute.
Spoon into desert glasses and allow to cool in the fridge for at least an hour.

I served these up with broken Cottage Cookies Sugar Free Digestive biscuits. These are really tasty and act as great scoops for the mousse.

Lulu - Wow! I’m amazed because I never eat “real” chocolate mousse because of the amount of eggs and sugar… This recipe, you’ll be sure, will be done very soon :-) !

Adam - Is there any difference between raw honey and normal runny honey? Certainly giving this a try soon!

megan - Hi Adam, Ray honey isn’t pasteurized which means it is more nutritious than honey that has undergone this heat treatment. Raw honey is also naturally Anti-Bacterial, Anti-Viral and Anti-Fungal.

Louisa - Have recently been put on a no sugar, no dairy, no gluten diet. Tried this as a last resort to avoid caving and eating the chocolate in the fridge….amazing! Tastes like a mousse made with good quality dark chocolate and is amazing frozen too! I used agave instead of honey and ended up having to put 4 tablespoons of it in but it is easy to taste and tweak as you go :)
Thank you!!

megan - Thank you do much for your comment. I am well overdue to make this recipe again.
Heard an interesting thought this week… Your body craves what is already in your blood stream. So I guess if you cut out the stuff you crave the feelings should subside.
Thanks again. Have a great weekend. Megan
